中心簡介
中興大學永續能源與奈米科技研究中心在學校支持下於92年5月成立，並於103年8月1日起更名為「永續能源與奈米科技研究中心」(Research Center for Sustainable Energy and Nanotechnology)，為能更切中該中心未來發展方向及擴大整合性學術研究平台任務，於109年5月12日起更名為「國立中興大學前瞻理工科技研究中心 i- Center for Advanced Science and Technology (i CAST)」，期以整合出具競爭性之跨領域研究團隊，向外爭取資源。本中心旨在作為學術交流平台，在既有的科技研究與核心設備基礎上，整合組成主題導向研究團隊，擬定策略，協助爭取研究資源與申請計畫，促進產學合作，期創造出具前瞻性、獨特性之研發成果。此外，本中心將協同本校各院開設課程及學成，協助基礎科技與新知教學。未來將以能源科技發展為導向，協調購置共用儀器設備、 建立共用實驗室。拓展研究平台(新增能源與環境策略研究、能源與環保材料、光電材料與元件等組別)促進產學交流、專業教育課程籌畫執行，以及共同研究設備與實驗室建構上。
本中心目標為整合校內外、研究資源與人力，追求高品質、跨領域的奈米科技之研究主題，並以追求一流研究中心為目標。以追求學術卓越及促進奈米科技教學；目前已建置核心實驗室及奈米檢驗認證平台檢測服務；跨領域及產學合作。任務在於整合校內各學院之研發成效，結合各研究專長，導向產業應用，將各式材料應用於功能性關鍵材料與技術、精緻農業化等，促使鏈結產業與學術合作計畫，以全方面提升中興大學奈米科技研究之能量。
i- Center for Advanced Science and Technology (iCAST) was founded in 2003 to promote world-class research and to foster future talents in nanoscience and nanotechnology. iCAST supports the initiative of opportunities and promotion of nanotechnology, thus a core facility laboratory has been established to serve as a central locus for integrating inter-disciplinary collaboration. In addition, the Nano-Material Measurement Laboratory of iCAST offers an accreditation platform for industrial product measuring services. The task of iCAST is to combine on-campus R&D and expertise of nanotechnology for industrial-oriented innovations. iCAST explores applications involve functional nanomaterials in key industrial functional materials and technology, modern agriculture, and so on. iCAST creates a framework for cooperative programs between industry and academe to all aspects of future advances in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
